Thank you all so much for your kind, thoughtful and generous gifts. This whole week has been a very Merry Christmas for me! I really appreciate all of you thinking of me during this holiday season! I enjoy and am grateful for the time that I get to spend with your children. Fifth graders are amazing and I'm so glad that I have the opportunity to teach them!

Conference Information

Hello everyone!  Conferences are quickly approaching!!  For my conferences, I highly encourage students to join us when we meet for conferences.  Because of the quick feedback that I provide, students should know generally where they stand in the areas of reading, writing and spelling.  As fifth graders, students are beginning to take responsibility for their own learning and by opening up conferences to students, I believe that we are giving them the opportunity to do that.  During the conference, your child will be self-reflecting on their strengths and setting goals for the second trimester.  If there is something that you would like to discuss without your child present, you are welcome to ask them to step out at the end of their conference.

I'm not a turkey... I'm a...

Intruder Training

Hi everyone.  I just wanted to let you know that we discussed what to do in the case of an intruder today.  Students had lots of questions and I answered them to the best of my ability, both as a teacher and as a mother.  I reassured students that the best thing we can do is be prepared in the case of an emergency.  Please feel free to contact me with questions.

Next Week

Hello everyone!

We have a lot to do in our short week next week!  The good news is-no testing! :)  Whew!

On Monday, students will be working to disguise a turkey!  They are to think of ideas this weekend and come prepared to decorate their turkey on Monday!  On Wednesday, we will be sharing our disguised turkeys with a first grade class.  They also disguised turkeys!  I can't wait to see all of the fun, dressed up turkeys!

Also on Monday, I will be training students on what to do in the case of an intruder.  If you have any questions regarding this, please feel free to contact me.
