NOISE

Hello everyone!  As part of my classroom management system, when the class as a whole is too noisy, they earn a letter in the word "noise."  If I can pick out which students are talking, then I definitely prefer to give a consequence to only those students.  However, there are times when 90% of students are talking and it's difficult to determine the few students that "may" not be talking. Because there are five letters in "noise," chances are good that at least one of those times, every child has participated in the talking.

With that said, today, the class earned all of the letters in "noise."  They will walk, rather than play on the playground, for 5 minutes of their next recess.  This isn't meant to be a punishment, just a tool to keep classroom management.

Just wanted to give you a heads up, as some students were upset about this.  But if the talking continues, we won't get anything done!  And we're hear to learn! :) (and have fun, of course!)

Thanks!
Mindy :)

Reading Test Info

Hello everyone!  Students completed their first unit reading test on Thursday, however, the printer was not hooked up in the computer lab.  Therefore, students were not able to print test results.  I will work to print each one of them this week.  It may take a while, as I have 50 students and will have to go in and print them individually.  But you will see them by Friday! :) (hopefully much sooner, but I will say Friday, just in case!)

Spelling and reading tests will be on Friday's from now on, unless we have a short week, then they will be on the last day of the week.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Mrs. S :)

Birthday Treats-Revisited-PLEASE READ :)

Oops!  My mistake!  Birthday treats may only be non-edible treats!  Earlier I had posted that it could be a healthy snack, but since I'm new to this building, I had not checked on that information before I posted it.  I apologize!!  Please be sure to send in non-edible treats only for birthdays!  This could be pencils, erasers, little trinkets, etc. :)

Thanks everyone! :)

Bring Your Own Devices

Hello all!
I know that students are very excited to "bring their own devices" to school!  However, we are not quite ready for that yet.  Teachers are still talking about expectations for those devices and what types of devices will be allowed.  I will post as soon as a decision is made.
Thanks!
Mrs. S :)

Spelling FYI

Usually, spelling tests will be on Friday's. Because of the two short weeks, and because I will be out of town for my sister's wedding on Sept 11th, the first spelling test will be on Sept. 10th.
